The Bristol Job Blog 6
So, Monday went well after all. We're all still talking and in fact managed to get a hell of a lot done preparing us for this final week before we hand in our latest treatment. The pace of development is definitely keeping us on our toes, but sitting down and bashing through everything certainly made me feel more confident that we're starting to get to some solid ground. The last few weeks have been a lot of talk about tone and big sections of the plot, and to be starting to get down to details is quite re-assuring.
We've been researching all kinds of tricks and wizardry that might help and eleven year old get into a bank. We're determined to make the actual heist in our movie a delight to watch, which means there have been references to check, geek out tech to research and reality checks to be considered. We need to hit that balance between fun, magical but plausible, and I have been leading the geek charge lately quashing ideas that don't fulfil our remit with a sheepish reliance on my unhealthy knowledge of physics. But we've got some great ideas - pulleys, balloons, bike tyre gas canisters and a Minah bird, and a desire to keep evolving our tricks continually. We shall be using a range of web tricks and networking to build a team of egg-heads to crowd source the most delicious ideas possible - a crack team to help us get the best bang for our small number of bucks.
Our main character Billie Diamond is now on Twitter - so if you fancy keeping up with an 11 year old embarking on research into how to rob a bank follow her and share your wisdom. She will be attempting to contact anyone with a working knowledge of security systems large and small, as well as famous career criminals who might have knowledge to pass on.
I better get back to work. I'm in the midst of turning my mass of research and planning on the visual and team side of the project into something concise enough for a panel to read in a hurry. I'd best get back to that but do keep up with Billie and if you have any suggestions of people she could get in touch with - let me know at matt@rubberductions.com
