The People

Christopher Moll

Chris is iFeatures’ Executive Producer. He’s the driving force behind the initiative and was also the architect of last year’s Digital Departures micro- budget scheme in Liverpool. His many production credits include Of Time and The City, Kicks, Salvage, Grow Your Own, Sparkle and the forthcoming Nowhere Boy. Previously, Chris spent 15 years as an independent producer, initially with Aardman, with whom he produced Oscar-winning The Wrong Trousers and latterly with his own companies Hellzapoppin Pictures and Harvest Films.

Melissa Blackburn

Melissa is iFeatures’ Project Manager. Melissa has spent over 10 years working in documentary filmmaking in London and Bristol, as a freelance Assistant Producer and later Director. She has worked with the BBC, Testimony Films, Quickfire Media and Touch Productions.

Shefali Malhoutra
Shefali is iFeatures' Development Executive. She was variously Head of Development, Producer and Executive Producer at Granada Drama (now ITV Studios) from 2000 to the end of 2007. In 2008 Shefali was the fiction development consultant for BBC Worldwide in Mumbai at the time of the launch of their first Indian production office.  She now splits her time between India and the UK, whilst developing her own projects as an independent producer for TV and Film.

Lisa Howe
Lisa is iFeatures’ Training Manager. She brings a strong track record in delivering skills development schemes for TV, animation, digital media and film. An established Interactive Media Producer, her career also covers stills photography and video, bringing over 20 years of production experience to the team. Lisa has held senior production management roles with two major UK studios, including Peter Gabriel’s Real World, produced interactive programs for blue-chip commercial clients, and crossed over into computer games publishing.

The home of iFeatures, providing key funding and support.

South West Screen is the Regional Screen Agency for the South West of England. Primarily funded by the UK Film Council and the South West Regional Development Agency, its objective is to make the South West an international centre of excellence for the creative media industries. It can offer funding and assistance to encourage innovation, grow creative businesses, develop talent, reach new audiences and develop the skills necessary to move forward.

Supporting both the development and production phases of iFeatures. The BBC is also the UK broadcast partner.

BBC Films is the feature filmmaking arm of the BBC.  It aims to make strong British films with range and ambition, bringing the best of British talent to audiences. BBC Films is firmly established at the forefront of British independent filmmaking, and co-produces around eight films a year, working in partnership with major international and UK distributors.

Creative Director Christine Langan is responsible for the development and production slate. Jane Wright is Managing Director, responsible for running the business operations and marketing.

Recent hits include include StreetDance, Britain’s first-ever 3-D movie, Lone Scherfig’s Academy Award®-nominated and BAFTA award-winning An Education; Armando Iannucci’s Academy Award® and BAFTA award-nominated In the Loop; Jane Campion’s Academy award-nominated Bright Star; and Andrea Arnold’s BAFTA award-winning Fish Tank.

Forthcoming films include Stephen Frear’s Tamara Drewe, Nigel Cole's Made in Dagenham, Rowan Joffe's feature debut Brighton Rock, Ayub Khan Din's follow up to East is East, West is West, directed by Andy de Emmony, and Ralph Fiennes’ Coriolanus, a modern retelling of the Shakespeare classic.

Bristol City Council serves a population of over 400,000 in the eighth largest city in the UK. Bristol is built around the River Avon and is the largest centre of culture, employment and education in South West Region. It borders the counties of Somerset and Gloucestershire and is also located near the historic city of Bath.

Primary funder of iFeatures’ skills and professional development programme.

Skillset is the Sector Skills Council (SSC) for Creative Media, with responsibility for 60 per cent of the UK Creative Industries. This comprises TV, film, radio, interactive media, animation, computer games, facilities, photo imaging, publishing, advertising and fashion and textiles. SSCs are licensed by the UK Government and by Ministers in the devolved administrations to tackle the skills and productivity challenge by sector. They are independent, UK-wide organisations, are employer-led, and actively involve trade unions, professional bodies and other stakeholders in the industry.

 

Supporting a digital distribution and cross-sectoral collaboration strand within iFeatures, which provides knowledge and learnings on digital distribution, innovation and collaboration in filmmaking

Media partner for iFeatures. The Bristol Evening Post is the biggest-selling newspaper in the South West, with more than 100,000 readers every night.

It was started in 1932 and brings news to people in Bristol, South Gloucestershire, North Somerset and parts of  Bath & North East Somerset. The paper has a reputation for campaigning on important local issues and also carries a range of supplements each week covering sport, nostalgia, property, motors and jobs.

Bristol Film Office is a free service dedicated to help make your filming in the city run as smoothly as possible. They have hundreds of searchable locations on their database and a listing of local facilities and crew. Bristol-BBC-Anchor is the new formal collaboration between the BBC, Bristol City Council, South West RDA, South West Screen and other local creative media organisations.

Bristol already has an undisputed reputation for the creation of world-class content combined with skills and research strengths in innovative digital media and silicon/mobile technologies. The key aim of this collaboration is to build on this powerful depth of talent to develop a media innovation testbed which underpins this dynamic digital production hub.

 

Our Film and TV Team represents broadcasters, studios, independent producers, financiers, distributors and individual talent across the film and TV industry from the inception of a project to its development and production and through to its ultimate distribution. We make the deals to acquire the rights, finance and produce the project and then exploit it throughout the world. We are experts in structuring productions to identify and take advantage of financing incentives and subsidies.
